GTFC Squirts Kick-Off has been a great success in past years.

We look forward to the 2022 season for all  3 to 5-year-old child participating in Squirts Kick-Off.

Do you have a child keen to learn a new safe sport in a fun, friendly environment? Then our Squirts Kick-Off program is just right for you.

The weekly sessions are the perfect introduction to the world’s most popular game for boys and girls aged between 3 and 5. Coaches take the class through a series of football drills that focus on fun.

Every player gets plenty of time on the ball and the prime aim of each session is for children to build fundamental motor skills in a fun, engaging, and inclusive environment.

Spots are strictly limited to 60 Squirts for the February intake.

Children who have turned 3 years of age by 1st of February 2022 up to those who are 5 year old in the same year can sign up for Squirts Kick-Off (Note: 5 Year Olds do have the option of playing Miniroos instead of Squirts).

Squirts Kick-Off will be starting on the first Saturday of Competition in 2022 (date TBA) with two session times available. The first session commencing from 8.00am and the second at 9.00am.  Sessions take place on the Main Field in front of the Clubhouse.

At Squirts Kick-Off your child will need to wear a sun safe hat, wear sunscreen, have a full water bottle, wear shin pads, shorts, footwear (football boots are optional) and wear long socks.

Online Registration Form will be available from early January 2022

Our youngest players start their football careers in the MiniRoo program.  Spanning age groups from (5 years old) Under 6 to Under 11, these games are played with modified rules and fields.

The focus is on enjoying the game, in line with the Discovery phase of the FFA National Curriculum.  Players learn football by playing football.  At GTFC all our MiniRoo teams are open to both girls and boys.

Parents of players in these age groups should register after we announce our registrations are open, and following this our volunteers will begin the process of placing players in a team for the Season.

For parents of U6 to U11 players, there is a website that provides more information on the rules and formats for the games for these age groups. The website address is www.miniroos.com.au.

We encourage all of you to spend a few moments to familiarize yourself with the information presented on this website.

At Grange Thistle, the U6 and U7 teams all train and play in-house on Saturday mornings. The U6 commence training at 7.30am with games at 8.00am, the U7s commence training at 8.30am with games at 9.00am.

U8 - U11 play home and away matches. For home games the matches for U8 start at 10.00am, the U9s at 11.00am and for the U10s up, they start from 8.30am.

Training for the U8 to U11 age groups (except for the Academy and Development squads) is once per week and it is scheduled in a 1.25 hour time slot between Monday to Thursday either 4.30pm to 5.45pm or 6.00pm to 7.15pm or Friday 4.30pm to 5.45pm.

(NOTE: U12 is deemed a MiniRoos age group, but under Football Brisbane, this age group plays Competitions for points and Finals unlike the U6 to U11 age groups.)

Where the demand is present, Grange Thistle will form Female competition teams in the U8 to U12 age groupings. If your daughter wishes to play in a Female only team, please specify this in the additional information section of the Online Registration.

Divisional age groups are played for points and Championships, Promotion and Relegation in the U13 to U16 age groups.

All U12 squads must compete in a Football Brisbane Grading Competition prior to the Season proper. The teams performance during these grading competitions determines the Division they will compete within for the year.

The Club will run trials for its top competition squads in the Mixed competition age groups (and if player numbers exceed 16 in the Female competitions). These trials occur in late October through to early December, with successful players provided with a Letter of Offer, and unsuccessful players able to register in our other squads when the online registration system becomes available for the new Season.

Football Brisbane accommodates divisional football for ages U12-U16 with divisions ranging from division 9 up to division 1 and then the Brisbane Youth Premier League (BYPL).

Football Brisbane has Competitions that can accommodate mixed gender teams, or female only leagues. Teams can move between Divisions at the end of each year by either being promoted or relegated. Teams also compete in Finals football if they finish in the top four positions in their league.

U13 - U16 play home and away matches and game times are dependant on the competition the team is placed into and their age group. They could play on Friday nights, Saturday or Sunday.

Training for these age groups (except for the BYPL and Division 1 squads) is once per week and it is scheduled in a 1.25 hour time slot between Monday to Thursday either 4.30pm to 5.45pm or 6.00pm to 7.15pm or Friday 4.30pm to 5.45pm.
